WHERE ARE YOUR CHILDREN LEARNING ABOUT LIFE?
Children will learn about life somewhere? It seems to me there are two sources in today's society that they can learn
such things. I realize there are particulars in the area, but let us consider
the two sources this writer has in mind. They can learn about it from television, or they can learn about from the Bible. Which one is your children learning from?
Have you noticed what permeates the air waves as they bring "entertainment" into
your home? I even hear s talking about how they enjoy this or that "show."
Now I am not here to say that all TV content is bad - just the majority of it! All I know about the so called
entertainment shows today is the "blurbs" that appear across the screen from time
to time - and I'm here to tell you - I have never seen such nonsense, filth and
about everything else that doesn't even come close to what life is truly all about.
If the little "snippets" about the "coming great shows" are any indicator, parents
need to indeed be "on their toes" about what their kids are watching. And while
we're at it, parents need to monitor thow own viewing habits as well!
On the other hand, there is the sacred word of God; the word that came from the
one who created man in the first place! We need to spend more time applying the
principles of that word to our lives, rather than letting those lives (and those
of our children) be molded by the humanistic and ungodly sources that sometimes
influence them. - Bill Moseley
AND ANOTHER THING ...
(Multiplying Problems)
The mother looked out on the porch to see her five small children in a huddle.
Then she spied the five baby skunks they were playing with! Horrified, she hollered,
"Children, RUN!" The startled kids did just that - each one of them carrying a
baby skunk and ran! Which goes to show that problems to have a way of multiplying
if not handled properly.
Just like my "problem" one time. I had just been waiting for some surly postal
clerk to give me an "Elvis" stamp. I knew I didn't want it, but never stopped
to think what might happen if I got one. You guessed it - one day I was handed
one and the first words out were: "I don't want that; I wouldn't hang that pothead's
picture in my little house with a moon in the door, much less put it on my mail!"
The startled clerk hastily grabbed it back - gave me a stamp with a flower on
it.
That presented me with another problem. Got to thinking - "I shouldn't have said
that to the poor ; she didn't produce the stamp." My conscience bothered me
until I went back and apologized to her (sort of like getting on the waitress'
case because the cook ruined your hamburger?). Anyhow, she didn't have a problem,
saying, "Oh, that's OK." But I had a problem and decided to fix it the right way
- and I'm glad.
Well, I fixed my problem and felt better about the whole thing, vowing not to
jump at the wrong person again. But one this is still sure - I may have to put
up with a lot in life, but I still don't want that skunk on my mail. - Bill Moseley |
